Saint Francis Soccer Trio Earns Academic All-District Honors

A testament to their dedication both on and off the pitch,three Saint Francis University men’s soccer players-Andre Israel,Mike Wernicke,and Jonah Wolf-have been recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as 2025 Academic All-District Team selections. The declaration, made Tuesday, highlights the extraordinary achievements of student-athletes who excel in their respective sports while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
The CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, annually honors the nation’s elite student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic prowess. Eligibility for the Academic All-District designation requires a student-athlete to be at least a sophomore, maintain a grade point average above 3.50, and demonstrate consistent participation in their sport-either by competing in 90% of contests or starting in at least 66%.
Engineering and Business Lead the way
Andre Israel, a senior Engineering major hailing from clarksburg, Maryland, boasts a 3.629 GPA. He was a consistent presence in the Red Flash lineup during the 2025 season, starting all 18 matches. Throughout his four-year career at Saint Francis,israel appeared in 50 games,contributing two goals and four assists for a total of eight points.
Also earning the distinction is Mike Wernicke, a junior Business Management major from Potsdam, germany, who maintains a remarkable 3.778 GPA. Wernicke’s performance on the field earned him a First Team All-NEC selection for the 2025 campaign.In his debut season with the Red Flash, he made 17 appearances, including 17 starts, and contributed one goal and one assist.
Rounding out the honorees is Jonah Wolf, a sophomore Engineering major from benddorf, Germany, who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA. Wolf, who was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team in 2024, showcased his talent in 16 games during the 2025 season, starting 13 of them.He recorded a career-high 1,259 minutes played, scoring three goals and providing three assists for a total of nine points.

These Academic All-District selections will now be considered for the prestigious academic All-America ballot, evaluated by a CSC sub-committee. The Academic All-America honorees are scheduled to be announced in early December, further recognizing the outstanding achievements of these student-athletes.
