It remains a mystery how the 31-year-old man ended up in the sea in the Salamis channel on Saturday afternoon.
According to the port authorities, the 31-year-old had dived into the water from a ferry that was running a scheduled route on the Palukia Salamina-Perama line.
The man was spotted by the crew of another ferry that was heading to Salamina from Perama. After being pulled out, the 31-year-old was taken to the port of Salamina and as he told the Coast Guard he did not want further medical treatment.
Closure
A preliminary investigation into the incident is being conducted by the 3rd Port Department of Salamina of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.
