London Hackers may have stolen the payroll data of tens of thousands of workers from multiple companies in the UK and beyond.
In Great Britain, according to their own statements, the BBC, British Airways and the Boots drugstore chain with a total of more than 100,000 employees are affected, as well as the US University of Rochester, the Irish airline Aer Lingus and the government of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
The BBC reported on Wednesday that an alleged Russian group called Clop is calling on the dark web to start ransom negotiations by email by June 14. The BBC called the procedure unusual. Otherwise, hackers would contact their victims directly.
The hackers broke into the business software Moveit. Earlier, the UK’s leading payroll provider, Zellis, said eight of its customers were affected by the “global issue” which may have exposed personal information such as names, addresses and bank details.
