Sales in large stores increased by 9.5% in February compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Statistics Institute of Catalonia (Idescat). Specifically, in the second month of the year the sales of food products they increased one 11% and the rest of the products one 7,8%. The index at constant prices, i.e. removing the effect of prices, recorded a lower growth, from‘1,8%, so it reflects the sustained increase in prices since March 2021. In this case, food sales were down 2.5%, while the rest of the products went up one 6,7%. In the cumulative of the first two months of the year, sales at current prices have risen by one 10,7% with respect to the same period in 2022.
