Salon 2024: faced with Chinese manufacturers, drive with optimism

European producers are challenged, even threatened, with considerable challenges in terms of jobs, know-how, sovereignty, environment, etc. They have two possible reactions available. Or try to slow down their hot rivals, through taxes or by changing the rules during the race (for example, postponing the ban on the sale of new combustion vehicles in the EU beyond 2035). Or accelerate on innovation, creativity, cost reduction, to stay in the race (without appearing naive, this is the meaning of the negotiations between Brussels and Beijing to prevent the latter from subsidizing its exporters).
