Approaching its 10th anniversary,the Angers Horse Show has become an “essential general public event” in the Great West,according to organizers. Launched in 2016 by Destination Angers, the event is designed to highlight the region’s commitment to youth, diversity, and lasting development. With over 260 exhibitors expected across more than 30,000 square meters of exhibition space, the show aims to promote the excellence of the equine sector to a broad audience.
The event’s success is bolstered by support from partners like SPL L’Équestre Saumur Val de Loire. A senior official stated that the show is “open to all worlds,” reflecting a commitment to inclusivity within the equestrian community.
A Thriving Equine Industry in pays de la loire
The Angers Horse Show underscores the strength of the equine industry within the Pays de la Loire region. This sector is a important economic force,supporting nearly 11,000 jobs and generating an annual turnover of approximately 73 million euros.The region boasts a diverse equine population of around 114,000 horses, spanning disciplines from racing and breeding to sport and leisure riding.
Horse racing is a particularly prominent component, with 44 racecourses hosting over 2,400 races annually. The breeding sector is also flourishing, with more than 1,000 breeders dedicated to producing high-quality horses. The Pays de la Loire Region is actively investing in research and innovation to ensure the continued sustainable growth of this vital industry. the region currently supports nearly 820 equestrian establishments, complete with modern training and competition facilities.
What to Expect at the 2025 Show
Visitors to the 9th edition of the show can anticipate a diverse program. The popular Concours de Saut d’Obstacles (CSO), or show jumping competition, will run continuously throughout the four days, featuring over 600 equestrian-rider pairs. Amateur events will also return, scheduled for November 8th and 10th.
Beyond the competitions, the show will feature entertainment with a Western theme and offer a unique opportunity to interact with the horses themselves, with over 60 boxes accessible to the public.
Equestrian art and culture will also be prominently featured, showcasing the work of artists, craftsmen, publishers, and creators inspired by the world of horses. An exhibition from the Institut Français du Cheval et de l’Équitation (IFCE) will also be on display. The “village” dedicated to arts and crafts has been expanded and relocated to Hall ardésia, providing a new entrance for visitors.
Adding to the spectacle, two exceptional evening shows, titled “Étoiles Equestres,” are scheduled for November 9th and 10th.
