New Delhi: Congress is embroiled in a new controversy before the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections. In fact, on Wednesday, senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda had made racial remarks against Indians in an interview. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary instead of condemning this controversial statement defended Sam Pitroda. He also said in support of his argument that this is nothing new. Chaudhary said, ‘We have people of Proto Australoid, Mongoloid, Negrito class. They are there. There are regional characteristics in the demography of our country. What someone said is his personal opinion but it is true that some people are white, some are black. Now this too has become a controversy. BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala has alleged that in an attempt to defend Sam Pitroda, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has used objectionable words about Indians. He has tweeted, ‘This shows that even though the words are of Sam Pitroda, the thinking of calling Indians Chinese, African, Negrito, Black belongs to Congress. Is Adhir justifying Uncle Sam’s comments? Shouldn’t they also be removed for this reason? Will he remove that impatient person who in the past had called Draupadi Murmu ji the wife of the nation?

What is Sam Pitroda’s controversial statement?

In an interview, Sam Pitroda made racial remarks against Indians and said that the people of North India look like whites, whereas the people of East India look like Chinese. South Indian people look like Africans and people of West India look like Arab people. Seeing the matter escalating, Congress leader Sam Pitroda resigned from the post of President of ‘Indian Overseas Congress’. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on ‘X’ that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge has accepted Pitroda’s decision. Ramesh said, ‘Mr. Sam Pitroda has decided to resign from the post of President of ‘Indian Overseas Congress’ on his own will. The Congress President has accepted his decision.
