Limp Bizkit Drummer Sam Rivers Dies, Bandmates Mourn “True Legend”

limp Bizkit drummer Sam Rivers has died, leaving the music world and his bandmates in shock.The news, confirmed by fellow members of the nu-metal group, comes just days after rivers shared a celebratory post on social media.

Rivers was a founding member of Limp Bizkit in 1994, contributing to the band’s meteoric rise to fame throughout the early 2000s with albums like Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000) and Results May Vary (2003). The band achieved widespread recognition with hit singles including “Nookie” and “Rollin'”.

The drummer departed Limp Bizkit in 2015, but later rejoined in 2018 after a heroic battle with illness. He publicly revealed that his absence was due to a struggle with liver disease stemming from excessive alcohol consumption.

“It got so bad I had to go to UCLA Hospital and the doctor said, ‘If you don’t stop, you’re going to die. And right now, you’re looking like you need a new liver’,” Rivers recounted in an interview with Metal Injection, detailing the severity of his addiction. He underwent a life-saving liver transplant in 2017 and subsequently achieved sobriety.

“I got treatment for the alcohol and got a liver transplant, which was a perfect match,” Rivers shared in the 2020 book raising Hell (Backstage Tales From the Lives of Metal Legends). “I’m back, and I feel amazing.”

As of today, October 31, 2023, the cause of death has not been publicly announced.
