New Delhi: The central government has confirmed that the same type of charger is being considered for electronic devices in the country. Union Minister of State for Public Distribution Ashwani Kumar Choubey informed Binoy Vishwa in the Rajya Sabha that a working committee has been formed to look into the implementation of uniform chargers.
The committee has representatives from the Ministries of Electronics, Environment, Commerce, Trade Organizations and Technology Institutes. The European Union has made USB Type C chargers mandatory for electronic devices including mobile phones. The European Union has decided to release the guidelines by December 28, 2023 and to enter into force on December 28, 2024.
