Samsung began rolling out the One UI 9 update on September 16, 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26 series. Following a Thailand-specific schedule, the update is set to expand to the Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 on September 28, with the Galaxy S23 FE following in October.
The stable version of One UI 9, based on Android 17, is now moving beyond the initial flagship launch. While the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra started receiving the update on September 16, Samsung is now detailing the phased expansion to older hardware.
Thailand Rollout Dates for S25 and Z Series
A specific timeline released by Samsung Thailand indicates that the update will hit several major device lines starting September 28, 2026. This group includes the Galaxy S25 series—comprising the S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, and S25 FE—alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
It’s important to note that these dates are regional. For example, while the S26 series began its Thai rollout on September 21, the update was initially available only in South Korea.

Galaxy S23 FE and the Android 17 Limit
The update will reach the Galaxy S23 FE during October, though a specific day has not been confirmed. This marks a significant milestone for the device; Mobilizujeme reports that Android 17 is expected to be the final major OS version for the S23 FE.
The device launched with Android 13 and carried a promise of four generational updates. While this limit applies to the rest of the Galaxy S23 series as well, the end of major OS updates does not necessarily mean the end of security patches.
New Galaxy AI and Productivity Features
One UI 9 focuses heavily on personalization, security, and the expansion of Galaxy AI. The update introduces 11 new features designed to streamline information management and content creation.
Security is also a priority in this build. The update includes Privacy Alerts to warn users about suspicious background app permissions, alongside a Security Brief and expanded Scam Detection for markets including India.

Checking for One UI 9 Availability
Users can check for the update manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. For those who prefer testing early versions, the One UI Beta Program builds are available via the Samsung Members app.
Because the rollout is phased, some devices may wait for subsequent waves even after the official date for their model has passed. Users are encouraged to back up critical data and ensure sufficient storage space before initiating the installation.
Hardware Compatibility and Gaps
While the S26 series and the newer Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8—which shipped with One UI 9 pre-installed—are already covered, the status of other devices remains less clear. The Thailand schedule provides a roadmap for the S25 and Z7 lines, but the exact timing for the Galaxy S24 series and the Galaxy A series has not been confirmed in these announcements.
The primary uncertainty remains the global timeline. While the Thai branch’s communication gives a glimpse of the sequence, it remains unknown if these dates align with deployments in other regions, such as France.
