San Antonio Police Shoot Man Following Alleged Domestic Violence and Pursuit
A man is hospitalized after being shot by San Antonio police on Thursday afternoon following an alleged domestic dispute, vehicle pursuit, and exchange of gunfire. The incident unfolded on the south side of the city after officers responded to a reported case of family violence.
Around 2 p.m., the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) received a call regarding a potential disturbance at 2000 Ann Arbor Drive. Preliminary investigations suggest a man was either damaging the windows of a vehicle belonging to his girlfriend or ex-girlfriend before the woman contacted a coworker for assistance.
When the coworker arrived to pick up the woman, the pair attempted to leave the area, only to discover the man allegedly waiting for them. They drove away, but the man reportedly followed, initiating a dangerous pursuit that culminated in a collision. The suspect allegedly chased the vehicle south to the turnaround at Southwest Military Drive, where he rammed into the back of it.
Shortly after the collision, shots were fired. According to SAPD Chief William McManus, officers in the vicinity responded to the gunfire, discharging their weapons at the vehicle they believed was the source of the bullets. The man was subsequently struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
“The suspect will be taken into SAPD custody once he has been medically cleared,” McManus stated.
As of Thursday evening, no other injuries were reported, and authorities have not identified any additional suspects. The incident remains under investigation, and SAPD has not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting.
This is an ongoing investigation.
