Warming Trend Takes Hold
After a recent cool spell, temperatures began to rise on Wednesday, and are expected to remain in the middle to upper 80s through at least Tuesday. Southerly breezes between 5 and 20 miles per hour will accompany the warmer air, creating pleasant conditions for outdoor activities. Nights will also be comfortable, with lows generally in the mid to upper 60s – ideal for enjoying a patio or porch.
Thanksgiving Outlook: Spring-Like Conditions Expected
Looking ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday, the long-term forecast indicates a remarkably dry pattern. Little to no precipitation is anticipated through early next week, and temperatures are likely to be warmer than average for November. The current warming trend is due to a high-pressure system settling over the region, blocking typical cold fronts and drawing in warmer air from the Gulf of Mexico. This system is expected to remain in place through the holiday, ensuring continued dry and mild conditions.
One analyst noted that Thanksgiving Day itself may feel more like spring than fall, if long-term weather records hold true. Historically, the average high temperature in the Alamo City on Thanksgiving is around 68 degrees, with a low of 46 degrees. This year’s forecast suggests highs could reach the low 80s, significantly exceeding the ancient average.
A Touch of Tradition
While the weather may be unseasonably mild, one Thanksgiving tradition is sure to remain constant: the iconic can-shaped cranberry sauce. Perhaps, as one resident quipped, it’s the only truly “cool” thing about the holiday this year.
