San Diego Police Officer Arrested on Domestic Violence and Threat Charges

A San Diego police officer has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including allegations of domestic violence and attempting to obstruct a criminal investigation. The case raises serious questions about accountability within the department and the safety of potential victims.

A spokesperson for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Ramin Rostamzadeh, 39, was taken into custody on December 12th. The arrest stems from a court document obtained by ABC 10News detailing accusations of abuse and intimidation.

Allegations of Physical Abuse and Intimidation

According to the court document, Rostamzadeh is accused of inflicting physical harm on his spouse over a period of several months. Prosecutors allege that between March 1st and September 3rd, Rostamzadeh “did willfully and unlawfully inflict a corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition” on his spouse. He faces three counts of corporal injury to a spouse and/or roommate.

The accusations don’t end with physical harm. The document further alleges that on September 4th, Rostamzadeh threatened to harm his spouse and then attempted to prevent them – and a witness – from reporting the incident to law enforcement. Specifically, he is charged with attempting to dissuade a witness from reporting a crime and making a criminal threat.

Department Response and Legal Proceedings

The San Diego Police Department has responded by revoking Rostamzadeh’s police powers, effectively removing him from duty. At a hearing on Thursday, December 18th, bail was denied for the officer.

The severity of the charges and the denial of bail underscore the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case. The District Attorney’s Office has not yet commented on potential sentencing guidelines if Rostamzadeh is convicted.

This case is developing, and time.news will continue to provide updates as they become available.
