São Paulo completed the transfer of defender Beraldo to Paris Saint-Germain, from France.

The 20-year-old defender leaves Tricolor with 52 games for the professional team, one goal scored and the unprecedented victory of the Copa do Brasil, in addition to having been part of the champion squad of the 2021 Campeonato Paulista.

“Gratitude, that is the right word for this moment. I want to thank everyone who helped me during my history at São Paulo. And, who knows, one day I will have the opportunity to wear this wonderful shirt again. Even from afar, I will always be in the crowd,” said Beraldo.

“It’s a mix of joy, for Cotia’s professional and training with our DNA of forming new global talents, and, of course, sadness because he is a promising defender. But Beraldo left leaving a legacy, he was champion of the Copa do Brasil, something that many tried and failed to do. And Beraldo is on the walls of Morumbi and CT, he made history and I’m very happy, because he’s a great professional and an incredible guy. He also had this longing. I remember when he arrived in Cotia, I said that more important than having the doors open when entering is having the doors open when leaving. So, Beraldo will always be in our lives. And, who knows, just like Lucas Moura did, he might wear our shirt again”, said President Julio Casares.

“He is a boy who trained with us and who worked in Cotia. Our talent factory in Cotia remains very strong, we will have new players coming from Cotia next season. And, obviously, at some point these boys can be traded, because the European market knows about our excellence. And Beraldo is a case like that. We wish Beraldo good luck and may he have the same success in Europe as he had in São Paulo. And the expectation is that, in the future, he will be able to wear the São Paulo shirt again, just like Lucas”, said football director Carlos Belmonte.

Lucas Lopes Beraldo began his career in football in the youth teams of XV de Piracicaba, in his hometown. Then, in 2020, the defender arrived at CFA Laudo Natel and completed his training process.

The period in Cotia included winning the Copa do Brasil U17 (2020) and the Supercup do Brasil U17 (2020).

In 2021, the player was part of the squad during the victorious state campaign before being promoted definitively in 2022.

His debut for the main team took place on May 25, 2022, in São Paulo’s 1-0 victory over Ayacucho, from Peru, at Morumbi, in CONMEBOL Sul-Americana.

In 2023, during the Paulistão dispute, Beraldo earned his place in the starting team and played 48 games in total during the season, being one of the pillars of the defensive system in the Copa do Brasil title campaign.
