Tsunoda Crash, Hamilton Spin as McLaren Dominates Early Session

Early Setback for Tsunoda
Yuki Tsunoda was the first driver to experience trouble, spinning at Turn Four early in the session. The Japanese driver lost control on the exit kerbs, briefly leaving the track before making light contact with the barrier. Fortunately, the impact was minimal, and Tsunoda was able to continue.
Hamilton Struggles at Mergulho Corner
Later in the session, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, occurring at the challenging Mergulho corner. The Ferrari driver rotated twice through the fast, downhill section leading to the pit straight. Hamilton ultimately finished the session in 19th place, just behind his teammate Charles Leclerc.
McLaren Leads the Field
The McLaren team established a commanding lead, finishing well ahead of their rivals. Nico Hulkenberg of Sauber secured third fastest, trailing Piastri’s pace by 0.619 seconds. Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin was fourth fastest, followed closely by Gabriel Bortoleto of Sauber in fifth. George Russell of Mercedes, Pierre Gasly of Alpine, and Carlos Sainz of Williams rounded out the top eight.
The early session results suggest a potentially competitive weekend ahead, with McLaren appearing to be the team to beat.
