SAPD Seeks Two More Suspects in SAISD Student Shooting Death

San Antonio police are actively seeking two suspects in the fatal shooting of a San Antonio Independent School District student, identified as 14-year-old Simon Cuevas. The incident occurred on April 16, with authorities discovering Cuevas with a gunshot wound to his abdomen at the intersection of South Elmendorf Street and Merida Street. he later died at a local hospital.

This tragic event has led to the arrest of Fernando Flores, 18, who was charged with capital murder for his alleged role in the death of a victim younger than 15.Authorities said the shooting was the result of a group attack,with surveillance footage reportedly showing a group of five individuals following Cuevas as he left school. Witnesses told police that several people assaulted cuevas before one individual produced a firearm and shot him.

San Antonio ISD released a statement expressing gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts. “We are grateful to law enforcement for their pursuit of justice in this case,” the district said. “We continue to lift up the family who suffered the senseless loss of their son and our student, who will always be a member of our own SAISD familia. We hope this news brings his family, and ours, some comfort.”
