SAS plane forced to return to Arlanda airport due to smell of smoke in the cabin

An SAS plane, flight SK716, en route from Arlanda to Helsinki, was forced to return to the airport after indications of a smell of smoke in the cabin, reports Aftonbladet.

The aircraft took off at 14:04 and landed back at Arlanda at 14:15, according to Swedavia. There were 28 passengers on board the plane at the time.

“Due to indications of the smell of smoke in the cabin, the aircraft turned back. It has already landed, so it is over, but we can confirm that it was a normal landing,” said Ellen Laurin, press officer at Swedavia, to TT.

Irena Busic, press manager at SAS, confirmed that the passengers on the plane must be rebooked onto another aircraft. She also assured that “everyone is fine and it was a completely normal safety landing at Arlanda and no emergency landing.”

The incident is currently being investigated, and the airline is working to ensure the comfort and safety of the affected passengers.
