The most severe punishment in Saudi Arabia is sexual assault. In addition, the name and details of the accused will be made public. In Saudi cases, the details of the accused are kept as confidential as possible. But this does not happen in cases of sexual harassment. The first such verdict was carried out in a sexual assault case reported in Madinah. A Saudi court in Madinah has sentenced a Saudi man to eight months in prison and fined him 5,000 riyals.
Apart from this, the name and details of the accused will be released through the pictorial media. Judgment will be given considering the seriousness and nature of the cases. The amendment also includes provisions against those who make false harassment complaints. In January 2021, the Council of Ministers added a new amendment to Article 6 of the Anti-Torture Act. Violent gestures, words, violence, and social media insults all fall within the scope of sexual harassment.
