RIYADH: The National Cyber Security Authority has organized an exhibition in Riyadh to raise awareness about the need to protect the country’s computer networks and systems from cyber attacks and its work. Titled ‘Cyber Security Awareness Mobile Exhibition’, the event is mainly aimed at employees associated with national authorities.

The exhibition has four pavilions covering hacking methods, improving cyber security awareness, consultations, discussions and the role of NCA. The authority said the event is being held in the framework of its strategic role in raising awareness about cyber security to safeguard government services and operations in the country’s vital interests.

Saad Haj Bakri, a professor of computer engineering at King Saud University, said the aim is to review hackers’ methods to maintain the secret nature of sensitive information, and raise awareness among workers to support authorities in promoting the values of protecting national security and personal data. He added that the challenges to the security of cyberspace are innumerable and come from many sources.

But conservation measures that can reduce or eliminate these challenges are also great. These typically express cybersecurity governance controls to be used at the individual, organizational, and country levels. The Internet has become the center of e-government, e-commerce services, social networks, and working from home. The success of cyberspace in all these activities depends on its security.

Since its establishment in 2017, NCA has been very active in identifying, recommending and implementing ways to protect cyber space in Saudi Arabia. In the 2020 ITU Global Cyber Security Index, Saudi Arabia ranked second in internet security out of 193 countries.
