Saudi makes employment contract mandatory for domestic workers

by time news

Dammam: Employment contract is mandatory for domestic workers in Saudi Arabia. The ministry has directed all domestic workers, including house drivers, to register contracts through the HRD Ministry’s online platform Musanid.

The Ministry of Human Resources has issued an order making a valid employment contract mandatory for all workers employed on domestic visas in the country. The agreement is to be entered through the ministry’s online platform, Musanid. Until now, the requirement was applicable only to domestic workers arriving in the country on new visas.

All employers must ensure that their domestic workers have a fixed employment contract through Musanid. The Ministry of Human Resources has also asked those who are not present to immediately complete the necessary steps to register the contract. The duration of the employment contract, wages, responsibilities and holidays must be specified in the contract. The action is part of easing the problems between the employer and the employee and making the recruitment process transparent.
