jpnn.comSAROLANGUN – The Sayak Boat Tradition was highlighted in the Sayak Boat Festival which took place at Jernih Village Field, Air Hitam District, Sarolangun Regency, Jambi on Wednesday (18/9).
Biduk Sayak is the oldest artistic tradition in Air Hitam District.
Biduk Sayak is an art of reciprocating poems between young men and women, or in local terms referred to as bachelors and girls.
This art is not only entertainment, but also a form of traditional communication that is full of social and cultural meaning.
The Main Expert Cultural Supervisor from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Siswanto, explained that the Biduk Sayak is a symbol of harmonious relationships between young men and women conveyed through love poems.
According to Siswanto, Biduk Sayak contains noble values about love, togetherness, and good manners that are upheld by the local community.
“Through reciprocal pantun, both parties express their feelings in subtle and figurative language,” said Siswanto in his statement, quoted Sunday (22/9).
The Biduk Sayak Festival preserves the oldest artistic tradition in the wedding procession in the Air Hitam community, Soralangun Regency, Jambi.
