Sberbank users got the ability to pay for the wallet of the digital video game distribution store Steam. The new feature only works with accounts registered in the United States.
You can top up your wallet with fixed amounts from $5 to $50 through the Sberbank Online website and mobile application. Users initially reported that they were able to pay for the wallet also with Russian and Kazakh accounts, but this function is currently not available.
Steam closed the ability to top up your wallet balance and pay for purchases with Russian bank cards in March 2022 due to Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. Some Western companies also refused to sell their games in the Russian Federation.
Steam previously announced that from November 20 it will remove the ability to buy games in Argentina and Turkey in local currencies. Instead, users will be able to purchase games in US dollars.
