A landmark event in the world of German table tennis, the New Year’s tournament hosted by SC Berg reached a momentous milestone this year, marking its 50th anniversary. The two-day competition, held january 2nd and 3rd in the Ehinger Länmgenfeldhalle, drew competitors with valid playing rights from the DTTB and invited clubs, showcasing a high level of skill and sportsmanship.
A half-Century of Tradition
The SC Berg table tennis department had eagerly anticipated this year’s tournament, recognizing its significance as a celebration of five decades of dedication to the sport.The event’s longevity speaks to the club’s enduring commitment to fostering a vibrant table tennis community. youth Divisions Showcase Rising Talent
The tournament’s youth divisions proved to be a breeding ground for emerging talent. In Youth I, the duo of Ben kneer and Tim Auburger from SC Berg emerged victorious, delighting the home crowd. SC Berg continued its success in Youth II, with Felix Weber and Jens Weber securing frist place, finishing ahead of Klara Dalheimer and Laura Wagner.
Further demonstrating the depth of talent across the region, TT Frickenhausen (represented by Stroh/Chen) claimed the top spot in Youth III, while TTF Altshausen (with the team of M.Hinz/L.Hinz) triumphed in Youth IV.
Adult Competition heats Up
The following day saw the focus shift to the adult categories, with intense competition across all performance classes.The adult A tournament culminated in a victory for the dynamic duo of Christoph Schmidl (TTC Odenheim) and Christian Tomsic (TSV Betzingen). Two teams from the host club, Rueß/Auburger and Maier/Geyer, also participated in this highly competitive division.
In the adult B category, Simon maucher (SV Bruchsal) and jonathan Janz (SF Schwendi) took home the gold, while abele/Fischer from TTC Ehingen secured a commendable third-place finish. The adult C tournament saw Fabian Stubert and Tobias Richter from TTC Maubach crowned champions, and in adult D, Heitner/Gauer from SC Vöhringen emerged victorious, finishing ahead of silz/Gog from SC Berg in third place.
