Gamecocks Swim Teams Prepare for Dual Meets, Ranked Performances Highlight Season

The South Carolina swimming program is gearing up for a busy stretch of competition, beginning Saturday with a dual meet against Queens in Charlotte, North Carolina. The women’s team, currently ranked 17th nationally by the CSCAA, will look to maintain their perfect record, while the men’s team aims to build momentum after a third-place finish at the Gamecock Invitational.

The women’s team enters the meet with an impressive 4-0 record, demonstrating early-season dominance. The men’s team, currently 0-3, will be seeking to turn their season around. Competition on Saturday will focus exclusively on swimming events, beginning at 11 a.m.

Several Gamecock swimmers are already making waves in the Southeastern Conference. Amy Riordan is a standout performer, currently ranked seventh in the SEC in the 100-yard backstroke, second in the 200-yard backstroke, and tenth in the 200-yard freestyle. Nora Fluck also boasts a top-10 conference time, sitting eighth in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Delaney Franklin rounds out the women’s highlights, currently 13th in the SEC in the 200-yard breaststroke.

On the men’s side, Connor Fry has emerged as a key competitor, ranking sixth in the conference in the 1,650-yard freestyle after a strong showing at the Gamecock Invitational. Eldor Usmonov is also proving to be a force, currently ranked within the top 15 in the SEC in the 100-yard butterfly.

Looking ahead, the Gamecocks will return to the Carolina Natatorium on Saturday, January 10, to host Virginia Tech in their final home meet of the season. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., followed by a special celebration honoring the team’s graduating seniors. This final home competition provides an opportunity for the Gamecocks to showcase their progress and celebrate the contributions of their senior athletes.
