Ioannina will be the setting for a Bollywood film, as an Indian production company has chosen the city to carry out its filming, which will take place this summer.
The production manager Sunny Pariani is already in Ioannina, as from next week some first filming of landscapes will take place, having today also a meeting with the mayor of Ioannina Thomas Bega, following the initiative of the member of the Union of Hoteliers of the Prefecture of Ioannina Stathis Sioutis and the owner of an outdoor company activities of Achilleas Papaefthimiou.
Mr. Pariani informed the mayor about the production, he said he was excited by our region, while he also mentioned the cooperation prospects that are opening up between his country and the people of Ioannina. “I want to express my appreciation for the meeting with the mayor. It was my pleasure to learn more about the Ioannina area. I am excited that the production company has chosen the charming area of Ioannina as the location for their upcoming bollywood project. This area offers the unique aesthetic and a vibrant community we were looking for for this project. In addition, my company The Greek Life Inc, which specializes in Destination Management Services, will take great pleasure in showcasing the vibrant aesthetics, history, natural beauty and cultural heritage of Ioannina to a wider audience. This visibility could lead to increased tourist interest, which can translate into significant benefits for the local economy and its residents,” said Mr. Pariani after the meeting.
For his part, the mayor noted the following: “Recently, more and more often Ioannina has been chosen by television and film productions to be their setting. This choice, which has now gone beyond the borders of our country and reaches even Bollywood, is not accidental. Ioannina with its rich tradition, its incomparable natural landscape and the comforts it offers as a modern destination are the ideal combination for hosting television and film crews, offering the right working conditions for a perfect result. Through such productions, our country can only come out victorious, as it is given the opportunity to “travel” to places and countries far away. We had a very constructive discussion with Mr. Pariani, to whom I stated that our municipality will be by his side in whatever it takes.”
The Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Christos Tatsis, also met with the production manager, who discussed the prospects that open up in our region through this collaboration. “India is a huge market that we may not have reached yet, but choosing Ioannina to shoot a Bollywood film opens up a channel of communication, which is up to us to keep active and use to our advantage , both in terms of tourism and culture,” said Mr. Tatsis.
