“It will show the signs of its existence through human observation and research, as a proof of the truthfulness of the Koran (QS 41:53),” said Professor Dr M Qurish Shihab in his book titled “The Origin of the Koran, the Function and Role of Revelation in Public Life” (Mizan, 1996).
Therefore, he said, just as the Al-Quran is the revelation of God to explain the nature of life by relating it to the ultimate goal, which is devotion to Him (QS 51-56), then this universe — which is to create – it. – it should serve as the function of the Al-Quran in explaining the nature of this world and linking it to the same purpose.
And so, knowledge must mean even in this narrow sense: “Recognition and recognition of the right places of everything in the order of creation to guide people towards recognizing and recognizing the right ‘place’ of God in the order of creation. creativity.” there and need.”
In this definition we see that the concept of “right place” has two functional areas.
On the one hand, it refers to the ontological field that includes people and empirical objects, and on the other hand to the theological field that includes religious and ethical aspects.
This can be proven by looking at how the Koran always links its commands relating to the universe with the command to recognize and acknowledge its majesty and power.
In fact, knowledge – even in a general sense – at the first revelation of the Koran (iqra’), was associated with rabbi bismi. So this means that “science is not used for personal, regional or national interests, at the expense of other interests”.
Information at the time – related to bismi rabbika – said Professor Dr ‘Abdul Halim Mahmud, Shaykh Jami’ Al-Azhar, came “for the sake of (God) your Sustainer, so he must be able to provide benefits to its owner, community), and also to mankind in general.
Verses from the Koran, as mentioned above, as well as describing the universe and all that is in it understood (reachable by human reason and power), he also emphasizes that everything in this universe is easy for man to use (QS 43:13).
And so, the previous verses and this verse equally emphasized the double goal: tafakkur which produces science, and tashkhir which produces technology for the convenience and welfare of man.
And so, we can say without hesitation that the “Quran” justifies – even requires – efforts to develop science and technology, as long as it brings benefits to people and provides them with convenience.
God, as expressed in the Koran, “desires ease for you and does not desire hardship” (QS 2:85). And God “does not want to create even the slightest difficulty for you” (QS 5:6).
“This means that all products of scientific development are recognized and authorized by the Koran as long as the negative impacts from them can be avoided,” said Qurish Shihab.
At present, it can be generally proven that science is unable to create human happiness. He can only create one-dimensional human personalities, so that although the person is capable of everything, they often act unjustly, like a drunkard with a sword, or a thief who finds a flash of light in the darkness of the night.
