Due to a powerful solar flare, large-scale disruptions and a real “Internet apocalypse” can occur. This was reported by the Swedish edition Dagens Nyheter, citing an information technology specialist from the University of California Sangeetu Abdu Jyoti.

According to the expert, the outbreak will not affect large servers that can be protected, but the submarine cables at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, which are the basis of the World Wide Web. Their prompt repair will be impossible.

Jyoti noted that such outbreaks occur about once every 100 years. Over the past hundred years, such storms have not been recorded, which means that it may soon occur.
