The residents of Beitar Illit were called to stay in their homes this evening (Thursday) due to a security incident. The Home Front Command issued a warning to the residents of the city for fear of terrorist infiltration.

In the municipality’s message to the residents, it was stated that due to a security incident in the city, at this time the security forces are conducting searches for a suspect who entered the city.

“Residents are asked to stay in their homes and immediately report any unusual incident to the municipal hotline or the police hotline,” the municipality said in a statement.

The IDF said that a report was received about a suspicious object placed inside a bus in the outline of a bag that gave off smoke. Saboteurs who arrived at the scene neutralized the bag.

The alert was activated to rule out intrusion by the suspect who placed the bag.

The mayor of Beitar Illit, Meir Rubinstein, issued a message to the residents and called them: “From here I appeal to all the residents of the city: “Enter the house, lock the doors and say Psalms. We are now in fear that there is a terrorist walking around the city – anyone walking around now is disturbing the security forces.”
