The Spanish professional association of organic production (Ecovalia) will take legal action before the State Attorney General’s Office and the European Commission against the former French minister Ségolène Royal for “an intolerable attack on the Spanish organic sector.”
Royal attended the BFMTV program “Julie jusqu’à minuit” this Tuesday, and during a debate on the farmers’ protests he assured that “Spanish organic products are false,” as Efe has verified.
Following these statements, the president of Ecovalia, Álvaro Barrera, indicated in a statement that these are “baseless statements” and “we cannot consent” to them “ruining” this sector.
Barrera has called on institutions to join in condemning these types of statements that “harm organic production so much.” “We must remember that all European producers work under the same regulations,” she stressed.
