Kharkiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has announced that he has fired the security chief of the Northeast after a public outcry. The move comes as Kharkiv is visiting Russia for the first time since the start of the Russian occupation of Ukraine.

In the early days of the war he did nothing to defend the city from Russian troops. He focused only on protecting himself. “Everyone tried their best to protect the city, but he was fired because the security chief did not do it,” Selensky said.

Selensky was seen wearing bullet-proof vests while visiting the wreckage in Kharkiv. After the failure to capture the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, in the early stages of the war, Russian forces intensified their offensive in the eastern Donbos region.

One-third of Kharkiv is now controlled by the Russian military. But Selensky said the whole area would be liberated and that everything possible would be done to prevent the attack. Selensky added that Russia must first understand that we will protect our land until the last person is left.
