The Senate of the Republic has made a historic decision by unanimously approving a draft decree to inscribe, in golden letters, the legend “National Autonomous University of Mexico. For my race the spirit will speak” on its emblematic Wall of Honor.
This gesture symbolizes an unprecedented recognition of academic excellence and the unmatched contribution of lto the Maximum House of Studies to the country and the entire world.
With a support of 98 votes in favor, the initiative achieved unanimous approval by the Senate, thus reflecting the consensus on the crucial importance of honoring the UNAM, an institution that has been a cornerstone in the training of generations of professionals and in the promotion of scientific and humanistic knowledge.
The opinion highlighted the outstanding achievements of UNAM in the 2022-2023 school year, where it registered a record number of 373,340 students at various educational levels.
This included more than 32,000 graduate students, more than 233,000 undergraduate students, more than 106,000 high school students, and nearly 700 at the technical and preparatory level.
These figures represent a significant increase in enrollment in the last 15 yearsconsolidating UNAM as one of the largest and most prestigious educational institutions in the world.
Besides, The academic diversity of UNAM was highlightedwhich has 16 Faculties, five multidisciplinary Units, nine National Schools, nine campuses of the National Preparatory Schoolfive schools from College of Sciences and Humanities354 Institutes, 14 Centers and 13 university programs.
All of this underpins its reputation as a leader in research and academic training across a wide range of disciplines.
The senators expressed their pride and admiration for UNAM’s contribution to the country’s progress and its fundamental role in promoting democratic, social and cultural values.
They considered that the inscription of the legend in the Senate Wall of Honor It is a symbolic gesture of deep respect and gratitude towards this institution, whose work has been fundamental for the integral development of Mexico.

Likewise, the Senate approved honoring the National Technology of Mexico with the inscription of the legend “75th Anniversary of the National Technology of Mexico. For my Country, for my Good” on its Wall of Honor.
