Seongil High School has claimed the top spot in the 39th President’s National Hockey Competition, marking their return to prominence after a two-year hiatus.
The victory over Incheon Caseo, with a decisive 6-2 score, took place at the Gimhae Hockey Stadium in Gyeongnam on Aug. 10. This win propels Seongil High School back to the championship podium, a feat they last achieved in 2023.
This season has been particularly dominant for Seongil High School. They’ve secured a remarkable triple crown, winning the Spring Competition, State Championships, and now the Presidential Division. This mirrors their 2023 season performance.
Individually, Captain Kwon Ye-chan was awarded the MVP title. Jung Min-soo led all scorers with an impressive seven goals, earning him the top scorer award. Coach Lim Jong-bin was recognized with the Best Director Award for his guidance.
Seongil High School showcased a relentless offensive strategy throughout the match. The scoring opened in the second quarter with Han Sung-bin’s penalty corner goal at 3 minutes and 43 seconds.
The team continued its scoring streak in the second quarter, adding another goal at 7 minutes and 23 seconds. They extended their lead with a field goal at 8 minutes and 27 seconds. Jung Min-soo completed his hat trick with a penalty corner goal just 1 minute and 15 seconds into the third quarter.
Seongil High School further solidified their lead with a field goal at 4 minutes and 15 seconds in the third quarter, bringing the score to 4-0. While Jin Hee-yun managed a goal for Caseo in the third quarter, Seongil High School responded in the fourth.
A field goal at 3 minutes and 59 seconds in the fourth quarter demonstrated Seongil High School’s continued control. They celebrated their victory with another field goal at 9 minutes and 9 seconds. Caseo managed a late penalty corner goal just before the final whistle, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.
