More than 100 classic episodes of the beloved children’s program Sesame Street are now available on YouTube, offering families a vast library of educational and entertaining content. The move, a partnership between Sesame Workshop and YouTube, expands access to the iconic series and introduces new themed compilations for young viewers.
The collaboration, initially announced last year, isn’t simply a repository of old favorites. It also includes fresh content designed to engage children with key learning concepts. According to a company release, these curated collections focus on subjects ranging from foundational skills like ABCs and STEM to broader themes of “Adventure & Imagination” and “Friendship & Play.”
For those with a passion for television history, the YouTube archive represents a unique opportunity. The very first episode of Sesame Street, which originally aired in 1969, is included in the digital collection – a nostalgic trip back to when Kermit the Frog shared the screen with Big Bird and Bert.
This YouTube partnership exists alongside a separate, recent agreement between Sesame Workshop and Netflix. That deal shifted new episodes of Sesame Street – currently in its 56th season – to the streaming platform and PBS, ending a decade-long run on HBO after the network chose not to renew its partnership.
