Actor Vijay Babu has resigned from the executive committee of the Malayalam Film Artists Association following a sexual harassment complaint.
A female actress who starred in films produced by Vijay Babu’s Production House, a popular Malayalam producer and actor, lodged a complaint with the Kochi police on April 22. In it, the woman described that she had been subjected to physical assault and sexual harassment by Vijay Babu for the past one and a half months. Meanwhile, Vijay Babu, who spoke live on Facebook, exposed the identity of the victim, including the name of the actress, in public.
Following this, a case has been registered against Vijay Babu for sexually abusing the actress. Police have registered another case against Vijay Babu for revealing the name of the woman who lodged the sexual harassment complaint. Meanwhile, another woman lodged a sexual complaint against actor Vijay Babu and caused a stir. Ernakulam police have also registered a case against Vijay Babu.
In this situation, actor Vijay Babu has announced that he is stepping down from the executive committee of the Malayalam Film Artists Association (AMMA). In his letter, Vijay Babu said that he did not want to tarnish the image of the executive committee member and would stay away from the executive committee until he was found innocent. Edavela Babu, the general secretary of the Amma organization, said his letter had been discussed and approved by the organization.
In this situation, actor Vijay Babu has denied the sexual harassment allegations against him on Facebook. “I am not afraid of doing anything wrong. I am suffering, ”he said.
