In the stock market, investors have been buying and exchanging stocks with confidence since the start of trading this morning. However, the sudden slump led to a slump in the stock market. The stock market continued to decline until the end of the evening trade.

As the war between Ukraine and Russia intensified, European stock markets also ended in a slump, much to the dismay of investors. The European Union meeting ends today. At the end of the meeting, investors looked at whether further sanctions would be imposed on Russia

Investors were also alarmed by President Joe Biden’s warning that the United States would retaliate if Russia used chemical and biological bombs on the Ukrainian people.

Petrol and diesel prices have risen by 80 paise per liter for the third time domestically despite falling international crude oil prices. Thus there is an environment of rising inflation in the coming days. For all these reasons investors were reluctant to take notice and invest.

The US stock market ended with a rise yesterday in the international market and the mixed ups and downs in the Asian stock market did not give investors confidence.

Trade that ended in a slump

The Sensex ended 233 points lower at 57,362 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. At the National Stock Exchange, the Nifty fell 43 points to close at 17,179.

Profit, loss

Shares of companies including Reliance Industries, Kotak Bank, SBI Bank, DoctorRetis, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel and IndusInd Bank ended higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Titan shares fell 3 percent. Shares of Tech Mahindra, Maruti, Nestle, Wipro, Powergrid, Larsen & Toubro and Infosys ended lower.

Shares of the consumer sector, information technology and FMCG sectors in the Nifty declined. Shares of real estate and telecommunications ended higher
