Egyptian Father to Stand Trial for Alleged Torture and Murder of 12-Year-Old Daughter

A harrowing case of alleged domestic violence has culminated in criminal charges against an Egyptian father accused of torturing and killing his 12-year-old daughter in Sharqia Governorate. After a three-month investigation, the South Zagazig College Prosecution ordered the suspect to stand trial before the Zagazig Criminal Court on January 30, 2026, for premeditated murder.

A Tragic Discovery in Al-Nakhas

The events unfolded on November 6 of last year in the village of Al-Nakhas, within the Zagazig center. Authorities were alerted to the death of Jihan A., a sixth-grade student, following what was initially reported as an incident during discipline. However, the investigation quickly revealed a far more disturbing reality.

Investigation Uncovers Brutal Abuse

Major General Amr Raouf, Director of Sharqia Security, immediately dispatched investigators to the scene. Led by Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Siddiqi, the Zagazig Center Investigation Forces began piecing together the circumstances surrounding Jihan’s death. The investigation revealed that the victim’s father, identified as Abdul Hadi M., a livestock trader, allegedly subjected her to severe physical abuse.

According to initial findings, the abuse was carried out in retaliation against the child’s mother, with whom the father was embroiled in a bitter dispute and a related legal case. The father then allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by disposing of Jihan’s body near Minya al-Qamh before fleeing the area.

Forensic Evidence Details Horrific Injuries

A subsequent medical examination painted a grim picture of the abuse Jihan endured. Investigators discovered traces of burns on her body, evidence of a severely damaged hand, and extensive bruising consistent with being struck with a wooden stick. A forensic report, received by the prosecution, confirmed these findings, detailing “recent burns and scattered bruises in various parts of the body” and indicating that the child was beaten repeatedly.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Following a manhunt, security services apprehended Abdul Hadi M. while he was hiding in citrus gardens in the Minya al-Qamh district. He was immediately taken into custody and charged with premeditated murder by the Public Prosecution.

Legal Representation and Community Response

The case garnered public attention after reports surfaced regarding the mother’s desperate plea for legal assistance. In response to coverage by Youm Al-Sabea, lawyer Ali Jalal volunteered to represent the mother, offering crucial support during this devastating time.

The referral to the Zagazig Criminal Court marks a significant step toward justice for Jihan A. and her family. The trial promises to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss and hold the accused accountable for his alleged actions.
