“She saved me”, on M6, sisters in distress

by time news

On May 14, 2019, Laura Rapp launched a call for help on Twitter. Her ex-husband, in pre-trial detention for a year for having tried to strangle her in front of their little girl, has been released and the young woman fears for her life. Within hours, a chain of solidarity formed around the hashtag #SupportLaura. The indignation is all the stronger since barely a month earlier, in Haute-Corse, Julie Douib, mother of two children and victim of domestic violence for ten years, was coldly shot by the man that she ended up leaving.

The two women will never have the opportunity to meet but will become symbols of the fight against femicide. The TV movie She saved me recounts their crossed paths and, despite the difference in social situations, underlines their similarities: the mechanism of psychological influence but also the powerlessness of the authorities (police, justice) to protect them effectively. Awarded an audience award at the 2022 Luchon TV Festival, She saved me manages to avoid the overly demonstrative presentation by a sober and effective realization.

From fiction to reality

The interpretation, both fair and moving, of the two main actresses (Juliette Roudet and Laura Sepul) gives flesh and emotion to the scenario written by the journalists of C-Prod, who usually carry out the investigations for the news magazines of the channel, and who worked here in close collaboration with the real protagonists, Laura Rapp and Lucien Douib, Julie’s father.

Both will be present on set, at 11:05 p.m., in the program hosted by Nathalie Renoux, “From fiction to reality”, in the presence of former judge Luc Frémiot and actress Lio, who was herself beaten by a companion in the 1990s and interprets, in the TV movie, the role of Laura’s lawyer. The evening will end with two documentaries, Laura, on behalf of women who follows the trial of his ex-companion, and Stop feminicides. The story of Julie, number 30.
