A gang was busted for using the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card details of Indian film stars, top cricketers and others.
The fraudsters are said to have obtained the PAN details of the celebrities using their GST ID numbers available on the internet.
Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner Shakatra Rohit Meena reported that the gang used the names of Abhishek Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Madhuri Dixit, Emraan Hashmi, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and others.
It is said that the group got credit cards in the names of the celebrities through Pune-based fintech company ‘One Card’.
Using the credit cards, the gang allegedly purchased goods worth Rs 21.32 lakh.
In this connection, Delhi Police has arrested five persons namely Puneeth, Mohammad Asif, Sunil Kumar, Pankaj Mishar and Vishwa Bhaskar Sharma.
“As the investigation is ongoing, nothing more can be said,” said Mr. Shakatra.
