Symptoms most commonly occur in the chest and trunk. Older people and those with weakened immune systems have an increased risk of serious complications: This can result in inflammation of the lungs, liver or meninges.

According to the expert, the vaccination is effective: “Without vaccination, 33 out of 100 adults will develop shingles in their lifetime, with vaccination only 3 out of 100.”
