Shooting at State Fair of Texas Leaves Three Injured, Suspect in Custody

Dallas, TX – An investigation is currently underway after a shooting at the State Fair of Texas on Saturday night left three people injured. Dallas Police Department officers responded to reports of the shooting around 7:45 p.m. and quickly arrived at the scene to evacuate the fairgrounds. The department later announced on Twitter that they had a suspect in custody.

According to the preliminary information provided by Dallas Police, a man shot another man, and three additional individuals were injured by gunfire at the Tower building. The shooter attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by authorities. Officers also recovered a gun during the arrest. Fortunately, all of the victims are expected to survive their injuries.

Dallas City Councilmember Adam R. Bazaldua of District 7 took to Twitter to elaborate on the incident, stating that the shooting occurred at the fair’s food court and was the result of a conflict between two individuals who knew each other.

Bazaldua also expressed concerns about the ease with which such acts of gun violence can occur due to the state’s legislation, particularly citing the permit-less carry law. He called for meaningful gun legislation to be passed, emphasizing the need for the public to feel safe.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) officials announced that rail passengers could expect delays due to the incident at Fair Park. However, once the police activity concluded at the fairgrounds, trains returned to regular service, and shuttle buses were canceled.

This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
