Chicago O’Hare Airport, Illinois – In a shocking incident on Friday evening, a shuttle bus and an American Eagle airplane collided at Chicago O’Hare Airport, resulting in two injuries, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. when American Eagle Flight 6209 made contact with a shuttle bus during taxiing for takeoff. Both the 50-seater regional jet and the bus were filled with passengers at the time, leading to a chaotic situation.

Passenger Kevis Mitchell, who was buckled in with his wife on the small plane destined for Dayton, Ohio, described the moment of impact. “The aircraft just about shifting from left to right, and everyone’s looking around, trying to understand what the heck happened,” Mitchell said. “We had a jarring impact on the plane, and everyone was basically going from side to side. Shook everybody up pretty good.”

The collision left a deep gash on the front of the aircraft. Emergency responders from O’Hare rushed to the site of the crash, located amidst the busy runways. Meanwhile, two passengers from the shuttle bus were taken to Resurrection Hospital with minor injuries.

Concerned for the well-being of the passengers, officials decided to disembark everyone from both vehicles as a precautionary measure. Under the glow of emergency lights, airline crews and rescuers guided the shaken passengers back to an O’Hare gate.

“I’m sure we both I just wanted to get home. You know, I’ve had quite a few flights, and one of my fellow passengers served in the Marine Corps… for quite a few years, and never had a crash, but I get on American Airlines, and I get hit by a bus,” expressed Mitchell.

In response to the incident, American Airlines issued a statement confirming the collision. It stated, “An employee bus made contact with American Eagle flight 6209 operated by Air Wisconsin Airlines while the aircraft was taxiing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Six team members onboard the bus are receiving further evaluation at a local hospital, and there were no reported injuries onboard the aircraft. The aircraft has been taken out of service, and customers have boarded a replacement aircraft to continue on to Dayton, OH (DAY) tonight.”

As investigations into the incident commence, both American Eagle Airlines and O’Hare officials are working to prevent future accidents of this nature, ensuring the safety of all passengers and staff.
