Chennai: Amid a single leadership controversy in the AIADMK, the co-ordinator OBS held a 4th day consultation with its supporters yesterday. Senior party leaders have been working hard to reach a compromise between the OPS and the EPS on the issue.
With the AIADMK Executive Committee and General Committee meeting scheduled to take place on the 23rd, the single leadership slogan has caused a great deal of controversy. Following this, their supporters have been meeting and supporting both Coordinator OBS and Co-Coordinator EPS for the past 4 days.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai on the 16th, OBS said, “Senior leaders who worked with MGR and Jayalalithaa should form a 14-member high-level committee. Coordinators should be the people who implement the decisions made by the committee.
I have conveyed this request to EPS through senior leaders. I am willing to talk to him without ego. The issue was exacerbated by former minister Jayakumar. The EPS and I should discuss who brought this issue and condemn those involved. ”
The party’s senior leader Thambidurai met EPS in Salem on the same day.

In particular, they welcomed the insistence that ‘the High Level Committee should appoint 4 persons in Chennai and 4 persons in the Kongu Zone and not across Tamil Nadu’.
Meanwhile, senior executives in Chennai R. Vaithilingam, JCD Prabhakar and Manoj Pandian held consultations with his supporters on the OPS 4th day yesterday. Thambidurai, who had met EPS in Salem, also met OBS.
The meeting lasted for over 1 hour. Later, Thampidurai left to meet EPS again. However, he declined to give details of the talks to reporters.

Deputy Co-ordinator R. Waithilingam, who came out after the consultation meeting, said: “We discussed the need for the party to be strong enough to return to power, to resolve the issue of single leadership and dual leadership smoothly.
The coordinator and co-coordinator are selected by the basic members of the party. This cannot be repealed by passing a resolution in the General Assembly. Any resolution can only be passed if it is signed by the Coordinator and Co-ordinator at the General Committee and Executive Committee meeting. A resolution cannot be passed automatically. Even if it is brought like that, it is not legal. Besides, the resolution of a single leadership will lead the party to the path of destruction.
