The Gabonese National Assembly has expressed its sympathy for the victims and survivors of the sinking of the vessel “Esther Miracle”. Shipwreck that occurred on the night of Wednesday 08 to Thursday 09 March 2023, off the coast of Pointe Dénis leaving for Port-Gentil. The President of this institution and all the deputies, in a press release published this Friday, March 10, 2023, show their compassion for the entire nation.

Like many other institutions in Gabon, the National Assembly, through its President, Faustin Boukoubi, has expressed its full consultation in the face of the drama that the country has just experienced. In a press release dated Friday March 1, all of the people’s elected representatives expressed their compassion.

Faced with this painful ordeal, the National Representation expresses its total compassion, sends its condolences to the bereaved families and assures them of its moral support.”, said said press release.

The manifestation of this compassion by the National Assembly expressed, follows that of the Head of State vis-à-vis the passengers of the ship Esther Miracle. The President of the National Assembly appreciated the reaction of the President of the Republic who was quick to go to the scene to provide his support. “The promptness with which the President of the Republic, Head of State, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba, hastened to meet the survivors, thus demonstrating his humanism once again. This recurring outpouring of solidarity cannot leave the National Representation indifferent and thanks it on behalf of the families concerned.” he pointed out.

The elected representatives of the people, through their President, called on the government “to take all the necessary measures to secure maritime traffic in the perimeter surrounding the scene of this tragedy and, in general, urges it to ensure that the reliability of all means of public transport is improved”.

Gabon continues to search for its missing. The country is in mourning. The messages of solidarity are almost everywhere the same. The families are crying and the tears are not ready to dry yet.
