BOLZANO. Jannik Sinner reaches his third semifinal at the Masters 1000 in Miami, beating the Czech Tomas Machac in two sets with a clear 6-4, 6-2.

The first set was more balanced, while in the second Sinner took off, conceding only two games to his opponent, 23 years old, number 60 in the ranking who had beaten our Matteo Arnaldi in the round of 16.

For the champion from Sesto Pusteria it is the twentieth victory of 2024, the year in which he won his first Slam in Australia.

In the semi-final he could find the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who in the quarter-finals will challenge the Chilean Jarry, and who in 2023 defeated Sinner in the final in Miami.

“It wasn’t an easy match but I played the important points well”: said Sinner at the end of the match. “Playing one tournament after another isn’t giving me any problems:” physically I feel good – he added – It’s about competing, so you train hard to be in a position to do it. This is a special tournament for me because I reached my first ‘1000’ final here and therefore I am happy to be in the semi-final again.”

Speaking about his opponent Sinner added: “He is an incredible talent in my opinion, he is very fast and has a very good physique – he said -. I didn’t really know what to expect from him today so in the first games I was a little cautious to understand which tactic would work best. The score may sometimes not be accurate.”
