New Guide Empowers North American Consumers to Spot Authentic European Wines and Deli Meats

A new consumer guide released by the “Sip and Savor” program offers crucial tools for discerning genuine European food and beverage products in the North American market.

North American consumers are increasingly interested in the provenance and authenticity of their food and drink, particularly when it comes to European specialties. Recognizing this demand, the European program “Sip and Savor,” promoting high-quality wines and deli meats in the United States and Canada, has launched a new guide titled “How to Recognize Authenticity – 5 Steps to Spot Authentic European Wines and Deli Meats.” The initiative aims to equip shoppers with the knowledge to navigate a marketplace often filled with products that merely evoke European tradition without adhering to its rigorous standards.

The guide highlights the importance of understanding product labels and origins. “Sip and Savor” showcases products like Roero DOCG wine, which represents the pinnacle of Italian wine quality due to its strict production standards, full traceability, and connection to the Piedmontese hills. Similarly, the program features 44 traditional European deli meats certified with PDO and PGI designations, each reflecting unique regional expertise and heritage.

According to a company release, the guide provides a concise overview of key elements to evaluate authenticity. These include understanding origin statements, recognizing the significance of classifications like DOCG, appreciating the transparency offered by producer details, and correctly interpreting label terminology. Consumers are cautioned to avoid products using imitative or “European-sounding” references that lack genuine ties to European methods and traditions.

The “How to Recognize Authenticity – 5 Steps to Spot Authentic European Wines and Deli Meats” guide is now available for free download on the official Sip and Savor website: https://sipsavor.eu/en-CA/download-the-new-sip-and-savor-authenticity-guide-and-discover-the-5-steps-to-recognise-original-european-products/.

“Sip and Savor” intends to provide consumers, media, and industry professionals with the tools to confidently identify authentic European wines and deli meats, fostering a deeper appreciation for the traditions and expertise behind them. The initiative strengthens the connection between European producers and North American audiences who prioritize transparency, quality, and craftsmanship.

The three-year campaign is led by Consorzio Tutela Roero and IVSI (Istituto Valorizzazione Salumi Italiani), and co-funded by the European Union. More than a simple promotion, “Sip and Savor” is presented as an invitation to explore the cultural and sensory richness of European excellence through exclusive content, events, and experiences across North America.
