The Madras High Court has dismissed the plea filed by Tag Entertainment seeking payment of the salary received by actor Sivakarthikeyan for the film Prince.

Venkatesh, managing director of Tech Entertainment, filed a civil case in the Madras High Court in 2019 against K.J.R. Studio and 24 A.M. The studios had taken a loan of 5 crores for the production of Sivakarthikeyan starrer Hero, and as they have to pay 6 crores 92 lakhs 50 thousand rupees along with interest, they requested to be ordered to pay that amount.

In this case, KJR received the money due to them. Tag Entertainment has filed an additional petition asking the court to order Sivakarthikeyan to pay the salary he received for the recently released film Prince as the studio has not yet paid it.

When the case came up for hearing today before Judge C. Saravanan, as the case has been pending since 2019 and Sivakarthikeyan is involved in the production of films like Ayalon, Don, Doctor, on the part of Tag Entertainment, it was requested that the income received from the film Prince be paid to the account of this case.

Advocate Vijayan Subramanian appeared on behalf of Sivakarthikeyan and said that he acted as an actor in the film Prince and received salary and Sivakarthikeyan had nothing to do with the production work. He also argued that Tag Entertainment Company has filed this petition with the intention of damaging the reputation of the film industry and harassing them, so the petition should be dismissed. Advocate Vijayan Subramanian filed Censor Board certificates as proof that Sivakarthikeyan was not the producer of all five films.

After arguments from both sides, Justice Saravanan, who examined the certificates, dismissed Tag Entertainment’s plea saying that since it was established that Sivakarthikeyan had nothing to do with Prince’s production work, the court could not order him to pay his salary.
