Düsseldorf. A direct flight connecting Düsseldorf Airport with Scandinavian Mountains Airport launched Saturday, offering a compelling alternative to the well-trodden ski slopes of the Alps. The new route, operated by TUI fly, provides access to Sälen-Trysil, Northern Europe’s largest connected ski area.
“The new connection enriches our winter flight schedule and offers our guests another attractive travel option to the far north,” explained Pradeep Pinakatt, commercial director of Düsseldorf Airport. He added, “At the same time, it underlines our good cooperation with TUI fly and the airline’s trust in the strength of our location.”
“Sälen-Trysil stands for a winter sports experience that many guests will discover for themselves. The region impresses with wide landscapes and a diverse range of offerings for families, beginners and sporty skiers,” said Peter Glade, Chief Commercial Officer, TUI Airline. “TUI Airline now offers 22 flight connections to Nordic holiday destinations across Europe in winter. With this new direct flight from Düsseldorf – currently the only one from Germany – the Rhine and Ruhr regions are now connected to one of the largest ski areas in Northern Europe in just two hours.”
The weekly flight departs Düsseldorf at 6 a.m. on Saturdays. Scandinavian Mountains Airport provides convenient access to five Swedish ski areas – Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen, Hundfjället, and Stöten – with short transfer times. Trysil, in Norway, is approximately a 40-minute drive away. Together, these resorts comprise a vast winter sports area boasting over 100 slopes and modern lift systems. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the region offers a variety of activities, including husky tours, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and guided winter hikes.
