A-Sleep participated in the ‘Korea Future Bio and Health Forum PART2’ exhibition held at the National Assembly Hall on the 12th, hosted by Rep. Sleep apnea can lead to various health problems, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial. A-Sleep developed Appnotrack, a digital diagnostic assistance medical device that measures breathing sounds during sleep using a smartphone and analyzes them with artificial intelligence to determine the risk of sleep apnea. Patients can test for sleep apnea and snoring at home using only their smartphone, without any additional devices.
Appnotrack received innovative medical device designation from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2024 and obtained grade 2 medical device approval and non-reimbursement prescription item approval for smartphone use. A domestic joint sales contract with Chong Kun Dang has been signed to supply the device to hospitals and clinics nationwide, with prescriptions currently being made primarily at high-level general hospitals.
Appnotrack can be used alongside polysomnography or independently, offering the unique benefit of at-home testing without extra equipment. Medical institutions can use the test results to quickly diagnose and treat high-risk patients. It’s suitable for primary screening of high-risk groups like those with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease, and is expected to expand into a digital sleep care platform for monitoring positive airway pressure treatment progress.
A joint sales agreement with Chong Kun Dang is in place, with prescriptions expected to increase, particularly in family medicine and internal medicine, starting this year. A recent product update now includes snoring details in addition to sleep apnea data.
A company official stated that approximately 3 to 8 million peopel in Korea may have sleep apnea, and early detection is crucial due to its connection to cardiovascular disease and diabetes. They highlighted that Appnotrack provides a more accurate and convenient diagnosis by utilizing sleep data from everyday environments, overcoming the limitations of traditional hospital sleep tests. The device can also be used for monitoring treatment progress, typically over a 30-day period.
