Slender Man Stabbing Attacker Morgan geyser on the Run After Cutting Off GPS Monitor
Madison police are searching for Morgan Geyser, one of the girls convicted in the 2014 Slender man stabbing, after she removed her GPS monitoring device and left a Madison group home Saturday night.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice confirmed that Geyser was last seen at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2025, near Kroncke Drive in Madison, accompanied by an adult acquaintance. Law enforcement officials were notified of her disappearance Sunday morning and are urging the public to contact 911 if they have any information regarding her whereabouts.
The case, which captivated the nation in 2014, involved geyser and her then-classmate, Anissa Weier, who nearly killed their classmate, Payton Leutner, by stabbing her 19 times. The attack was motivated by a belief in the fictional internet character known as slender Man. Geyser pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide in 2018 and was sentenced to confinement in a mental health institution, avoiding prison time.
She was granted a conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute approximately two months ago, and later placed in a confidential group home setting. A local judge initially approved a transfer to a facility in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, but that plan was abandoned due to concerns about publicity.
“We don’t know any of the facts about what happened, or who might have assisted her, but certainly if there is somebody who has assisted her that person will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Geyser’s attorney, Tony Cotton, stated in a video posted on Instagram sunday afternoon. Cotton also implored Geyser to turn herself in immediatly, emphasizing that it was in her best interest.
Neighbors in the area of Kroncke Drive expressed surprise at not being informed of Geyser’s presence in their community. “we don’t feel, you know, unsafe, but it is something that we should have been notified about,” one resident told reporters.
The family of Payton Leutner released a statement through a spokesperson, confirming they are aware of the situation and are working closely with law enforcement to ensure their continued safety. “Payton and her family are safe and are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure their continued safety,” the statement read. “The family would like to thank all of the law enforcement entities involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan.”
Anissa Weier, the other individual involved in the 2014 stabbing, was released from a mental health institute in 2021 after serving nearly four years at the Winnebago facility.
Authorities continue to investigate geyser’s disappearance and are actively pursuing all leads. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information to 911 immediately.
