The same causes produce the same effects. After the State accounts for 2021 and 2022, the National Assembly on Tuesday rejected those of social Security for 2022 due to a coalition of oppositions. However, this vote will have no great practical consequences. By 134 votes against 115, the deputies refused to give “discharge” to the government for the execution of this budget. The right-wing dominated Senate must now decide.

The Minister of Health, François Braun, defended, in vain, “a responsible trajectory”, while his colleague in Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, called on the opposition not to “sweep” a text “automatically”.

“Insincerity” against “media stunt”

But from the RN to LFI, the deputies pinned an “insincere” budget, having imposed “austerity”. The LR elected officials distinguished themselves by deploring an insufficient “control” of the accounts. The Renaissance group deplored a “media coup” of the opposition, but which “will not change anything in the daily life of the French”.

On the evening of the 14th day of mobilization against pension reformthe rebellious David Guiraud promised: “we will challenge line by line each of the texts of law which touches with a hair of our Social security and our pensions”.

On Monday, the Assembly had rejected under the same conditions the bills for the regulation of the State budget for 2021 and 2022.

This approval of past budgets was a simple accounting formality before. But it turned into a puzzle in the new configuration of the Assembly, without an absolute majority since June 2022. On August 3 last year, the deputies had thus rejected the 2021 settlement bill for the first time. , unheard of since 1833.
